Uzbekistan: summer competition shows that economics can be fun!

Over the summer months, Westminster International University at Tashkent hosted a competition to encourage children, adults and families to use their downtime creatively. Entrants were challenged to explore “Common Sense Economics” and its many accompanying videos, and to submit entries in categories for best video, best photo and best drawing.

The results? A whirlwind of creativity, energy and enthusiasm!

For student Parizoda Abdufattoeva the competition was a life-changing experience. “I started reading the book - my imagination, thinking, attitude, aim, everything changed! I started with the English version then I checked the Russian version and then the Uzbek. Most books lose their meaning when they get translated. But “Common Sense Economics” kept its meaning. My big thanks to the translators! I read this book for myself, for my own development. The things I have learned will help me in my BSc Finance! It is not only about developing economic skills, but a whole world view.”

The winners recently gathered at WIUT for an awards ceremony, where they were feted with cash prizes and certificates and warmly welcomed to the EFI Uzbekistan community.
