Teacher Training Program Strengthens Economics Education Across Kosovo
EFI’s Training Program (TTP), supported by the Rising Tide Foundation, has successfully completed its 2026 delivery in Kosovo, bringing together 84 secondary school teachers from across the country to strengthen economics education through practical, modern teaching methods.

Delivered across three cohorts, the program provided teachers with interactive workshops, collaborative learning experiences, and practical classroom strategies designed to make economics more engaging, relevant, and accessible for students. Participants who completed the program received certification in Economics Pedagogy, equipping them with new approaches to improve learning outcomes in their classrooms.
Now in its third year in Kosovo, the program continues to demonstrate the growing demand for high-quality professional development for economics educators. Beyond introducing innovative teaching techniques, the program has helped establish a strong network of teachers committed to sharing ideas, learning from one another, and creating more engaging learning environments for the next generation of students.

For many participants, one of the program’s greatest strengths was its focus on the teaching of economics itself – a topic that has received relatively little attention in formal teacher development.
“Of the many professional development trainings I have attended over the years, this was the first to focus specifically on how economics should be taught, opening an important conversation on a topic that has received far too little attention. I sincerely hope that initiatives like this continue to grow and that Economics Pedagogy eventually becomes an integral part of university curricula in Kosovo.”

Participants also highlighted the practical value of the training, particularly the emphasis on active learning, classroom engagement, and innovative teaching approaches.
“The practical activities, educational games, and collaborative group work demonstrated how active learning can increase students’ participation, motivation, and overall classroom engagement. This experience has given me fresh ideas for integrating digital tools, educational games, and interactive activities into my teaching, making lessons more creative and effective.”

By combining evidence-based pedagogy with practical classroom application, EFI’s Teacher Training Program continues to support teachers in delivering high-quality economics education that prepares students with the knowledge and critical thinking skills they need to understand the economic decisions that shape their lives.
