Montenegro Workshop Inspires New Approaches to Economics Education

Twenty high school economics teachers from across Montenegro recently came together for a two-day professional development workshop focused on strengthening economics education through practical, student-centred teaching approaches.

Organized by the Institute for Strategic Studies and Projections (ISSP) with support from the Economic Fundamentals Initiative (EFI), the workshop provided teachers with new strategies to increase student engagement while creating opportunities to share experiences and learn from one another.

Sessions explored a range of contemporary teaching approaches, including creative classroom methods, youth motivation, gamification, and the effective use of artificial intelligence tools to support learning. Throughout the workshop, participants exchanged ideas and explored practical techniques that can be applied directly in their classrooms.

Reflecting on the workshop, Associate researcher at ISSP, Iva Vukčević, said:

“Teachers found the practical tools and methods introduced during the workshop useful and applicable in their classrooms, particularly for increasing student engagement. Participants highly valued the opportunity to network with colleagues and exchange experiences and teaching approaches. There was also strong interest in continuing collaboration and developing additional activities and learning content together to further engage students and strengthen economics education.”

The workshop builds on the long-standing partnership between ISSP and EFI to strengthen economic and financial literacy in Montenegro by supporting teachers with the knowledge, resources, and professional networks they need to inspire the next generation of learners.
