EFI’s Digital Learning Community Grows by 77.5%
With registrations growing by 77.5%, EFI’s online learning platform is helping teachers across four countries access training, share knowledge and continue their professional development.
Learning doesn’t stop when a training session ends. For teachers taking part in the Economic Fundamentals Initiative’s (EFI) Teacher Training Program, online learning is making it easier to access resources, revisit training materials and build on their knowledge throughout the year.
EFI’s Moodle learning platform has seen significant growth, with registered accounts increasing from 717 in December 2025 to 1,273 in October 2026 – a rise of 77.5%.
Of these, 1,116 accounts belong to teachers and mentors involved in EFI’s Teacher Training Program across Ukraine, Georgia, Kosovo and North Macedonia.
This growth reflects the continued expansion of EFI’s teacher training activities and its commitment to providing educators with support beyond their initial training.
Supporting teachers beyond the classroom
Our Teacher Training Program is about more than delivering workshops. It’s about giving teachers the knowledge, confidence and practical tools to bring economics to life for their students.
Moodle plays an important role in this approach, providing a dedicated online space where teachers can access lesson plans, presentations, recorded webinars and other resources whenever they need them.
Whether revisiting a topic covered during training, preparing a classroom activity or catching up on a recorded session, teachers can continue learning at a pace that works for them.
Breaking down language barriers
One of the strengths of EFI’s approach is recognising that effective learning should be accessible in different languages.
Moodle supports five languages – English, Albanian, Georgian, Ukrainian and Macedonian, helping teachers engage with materials relevant to their local communities.
The platform also integrates with BigBlueButton, enabling live online training sessions supported by real-time translation. This helps bring educators together across countries, making it easier to participate, exchange ideas and learn from one another.
As Malesore Gashi Rexhepi, EFI’s Moodle Platform Manager, explains:
“The real impact of Moodle goes beyond delivering online training. It helps us connect more than 1,100 teachers and mentors across four countries, giving them continued access to educational resources, recorded sessions and professional development opportunities. For me, one of the greatest achievements is making learning accessible across languages and borders, long after a training session ends.”
Building a lasting learning community
As EFI welcomes new groups of teachers into its training programs, online learning is becoming an increasingly valuable part of providing continued support.
By combining face-to-face training, interactive online sessions and ongoing access to educational materials, EFI is helping teachers stay connected to learning opportunities throughout the academic year.
Ultimately, it’s not just about growing an online platform. It’s about creating more opportunities for teachers to learn, develop and bring economic education into their classrooms – wherever they are.
