More Than 110 Teachers Complete EFI ‘s Teacher Training Program in Georgia in 2026

The demand for high-quality economics education continues to grow in Georgia, with more than 350 teachers applying for this year’s EFI Teacher Training Program – nearly three times the number of places available.

Ultimately, 112 teachers successfully completed the program, gaining both economics knowledge and practical teaching techniques they can immediately apply in their classrooms.

This year’s program reflected the evolving needs of Georgia’s education system. In addition to Civic Education teachers, Geography teachers were invited to participate following the introduction of economics-related topics into the national geography curriculum, helping equip even more educators to teach essential economic concepts.

The program combined in-person and online learning, making it accessible to teachers from across the country while maintaining a highly interactive learning experience.

Alongside core economics topics, including market fundamentals, public policy and macroeconomics, participants explored practical classroom strategies designed to increase student engagement. Teachers were introduced to AI tools for lesson planning, game-based learning techniques and real-world case studies that help make economics more relevant and engaging for students.

To support continued professional development, participants also received a range of recommended books and online learning resources to continue building their knowledge beyond the program.

Perhaps the strongest indicator of the program’s impact is its growing reputation. Many teachers applied after hearing about the experience from colleagues who had participated in previous years, demonstrating the lasting value the program continues to deliver for educators across Georgia.
