Economics Teachers Establish National Professional Association in North Macedonia
Teachers from across North Macedonia have come together to establish the Association of Economics Teachers of North Macedonia, creating a new national platform dedicated to strengthening economics education and advancing economic literacy across the country.
The Association is the result of four years of collaboration between teachers and EFI’s local partner, the Liberal Alternative Institute (LAI), through initiatives including the North Macedonia Economics Olympiad, the Teacher Training Program, and EconLit Caravans. Supported by the Economic Fundamentals Initiative (EFI) and Atlas Network, the new organization will help foster collaboration, promote professional development, and support the long-term growth of economics education nationwide.

The founding assembly, held at the South East European University in Skopje, marked the formal launch of the Association, with members adopting its founding statute and electing its first leadership team.
Looking ahead, LAI and the Association will work together to deliver flagship initiatives, including the North Macedonia Economics Olympiad, Teacher Training Program, and EconLit Caravans. By giving teachers a stronger voice and a permanent professional network, the Association aims to improve teaching standards, encourage innovation in economics education, and expand opportunities for students across North Macedonia.

The establishment of the Association represents an important milestone in strengthening the country’s economic literacy ecosystem. In the coming months, membership will expand to welcome economics teachers from across North Macedonia, creating a nationwide community committed to sharing expertise, supporting professional growth, and equipping young people with the knowledge and skills to better understand the economy.
