Albania Leadership School Helps Students Strengthen Economic Thinking and Decision-Making
Thirty students from across Albania recently came together for a Leadership School focused on a timely question: how do we make good decisions in a world that is constantly changing?
Organized by the Center for Education and Development (CED) in partnership with the European University of Tirana (UET), the three-day program brought together graduating high school students from cities across the country under the theme, Leadership in the Age of Uncertainty: How to Make Decisions When the World Changes Fast.
Through lectures, debates, and applied exercises, participants explored key economic concepts including opportunity cost, incentives, and decision-making in public policy. The program encouraged students to think critically about the choices individuals, businesses, and governments face in an increasingly complex world.
The results were encouraging. Before the program, participants correctly applied core economic concepts an average of 41% of the time. By the end of the Leadership School, that figure had increased to 76%, demonstrating a significant improvement in students’ understanding and application of economic thinking.
The program also provided opportunities for students to develop leadership skills, engage with peers from different backgrounds, and explore real-world challenges through discussion and collaboration.
At the closing ceremony, the European University of Tirana awarded three full scholarships and three partial scholarships to outstanding participants in recognition of their academic achievement and active engagement throughout the program.
By combining economics, leadership, and practical decision-making, the Leadership School is helping equip young people with the tools and confidence to navigate an increasingly uncertain future.
