Identifying the Next Generation: Economics Olympiad Gains Momentum in Ukraine

The Economics Olympiad in Ukraine continues to grow, bringing together students from across the country and identifying those ready to advance to the national stage.

As part of the 2025–26 cycle, the regional round engaged 1,011 students from 24 regions, reflecting both the scale and reach of the program. From this cohort, 61 participants were selected to progress to the national final, with top-performing students recognized at the regional level.

The Olympiad provides a platform for students to develop and demonstrate their understanding of economic concepts, encouraging critical thinking and real-world application. By challenging students to engage with complex ideas in a structured and competitive environment, the program helps build both knowledge and confidence.

Beyond the competition itself, the Olympiad plays an important role in strengthening economic education more broadly—raising awareness, motivating students, and supporting a culture of academic excellence. As participants progress through each stage, they gain valuable experience that prepares them for further study and future opportunities.

With strong participation and clear pathways for advancement, the Economics Olympiad continues to be a key driver of EFI’s work in Ukraine—supporting the development of the next generation of economically literate and engaged young people.
